3 Easy Client Touches You Should Already Be Doing
Referrals account for a large portion of my business every year so keeping in touch with my clients is key. Although creating great relationships with clients is critical, so is staying top of mind. I would recommend having a 33 Touch Plan in place for your clients. A 33 Touch Plan is a year long plan with 33 ways you are in touch with your client throughout the year. Below are 3 easy touches to get you started... 1.
What's your client's favorite football team?
It seems like a silly question, but during the home buying or selling process you may have really gotten to know your client, but do you still remember all of the details from a client you sold a home to over a year ago? After some deep thought, you might be able to start to remember details, but why worry about it when you can just pull up their information?
"Who's your boss?" "No I mean who's the CEO of your company?"
"Who's your boss?" "No, I mean who is the president or CEO of your company?" "How do you make people come to your company?" These are the questions I got from my third grade class at the end of our five sessions on "Our City", part of the 3rd annual REALTORS in the Classroom last week. I love volunteering because I get to work with kids - they are smart, and ask questions that are sometimes so precocious it tickles me.
10 Baby Steps to Starting in Real Estate for Low Cost
1) Only three initial expenses are needed: Order business cards via your franchise/broker recommendation – keep them simple and inexpensive to start. Recommend OvernightPrints.com You’ll also need basic Thank You cards. I use Thank You Note Sheets (classier in my opinion) from AmericanStationery.com. Not costly at all. Order Top Producer for $30/month 2) Setup Top Producer ...
Volunteer of the Year
Recently, I was presented with the Volunteer of the Year Award from Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada. It was very humbling to hear how our REALTOR / CRS volunteer groups are the only ones that have never had someone no-show for the kids. Each year the number of REALTOR volunteers continue to grow and has truely made it a great event for the real estate industry in Las Vegas.
CFPB Gets Smacked Down by Federal Court
From Housing Wire: CFBP has good intentions but the power it yields was really over the top. I think it's good to see some checks on their ability to levy indiscriminate fines. See link below for the article http://www.housingwire.com/articles/38252-phh-wins-landmark-victory-cfpb-ruled-unconstitutional?eid=360664724&bid=1553352#.V_0kX75_yFI.facebook
"What does that commission pay for anyway?"
How do you justify value (preferably in the beginning) with a seller? One thing most sellers don’t know (even most REALTORS) is all that a good listing agent does to sell a home, and the time involved. I once had a client ask me about commission (which I usually don’t have happen, and I made system changes after it occurred), and my response was something similar to the response below.
HOW GREAT SELLER’s AGENTS Negotiate
Part 2 of 2 of my series on Negotiating by great agents: One of the most important things we do in real estate is one of the things that we get the least training on: negotiation. This is my letter to my fellow agents (aka a plea) to read this and know how to not only get your clients to their desired results, but do so in a way that doesn’t alienate everyone in the process.

Oh, the Places You’ll Go! by Dr. Seuss
Do you dare stay out? Do you dare go in?And IF you go in –Should you turn left or right?Or right and three-quarters?Or maybe not quite. You can get so confused that you’ll start in to race,Down long wiggled roads at break- necking paceAnd grind on for miles across weirdish wild space,Headed I fear, toward a most useless place. The Waiting Place…For people just waiting.Waiting for a train to goOr a bus to come, or a plane to…
I am running for GLVAR Board of Directors
**2017 Board of Directors** It's almost time to vote. I am running to represent you on the Board of Directors. I wanted to say a few words about who I am and why I am running...
Why I Volunteer and You Should Too
Corazon was her name, and it means “Heart" in Spanish. This third grader was the first child I spent working with one on one, and it changed my entire perspective on what we as business people can accomplish. My first challenge with her was to find a way to get her to read more.
5 Ways to Elevate the Real Estate Profession
Professionalism is a word that gets thrown out often in business, but in real estate it has an added meaning. In this business, we are responsible for guiding the public through what is usually going to be the biggest transaction of their lives. In this business, we communicate to the public in everything that we do - from billboards on the highway to something as simple (and far-reaching) as MLS photos.
New Agent Dilemma: Qualifying Leads
New agent question: is it normal to have so many flaky people? My answer: The goal isn't to get as many people as you can but learn to eliminate the 80% who will never buy or sell. Will they come to the office for a real consultation, will they talk to a lender to determine their purchasing power ? Good questions are are how I separate out the 20% that really need help (now or in the future).
WHY are you in the real estate business?
WHY are you in the real estate business? Great question from the RE/MAX retreat this weekend for Chairman/Titan/Diamond. Mel Robbins had a great presentation on focus and this came up. Everyone has a different answer, but we often don't think about it. For me, I enjoy having an impact that few people can have, and knowing hat when it hits the fan, I can really make an impact.
