On July 29, 2026, Shawn presented a breakout session at the NAREB National Convention in Las Vegas titled Building a Real Estate Business Around a Niche, Not a ZIP Code. He partnered on the session with James Schwartz, Senior Vice President of Marketing at RE/MAX. The talk argued that agents build more durable businesses by choosing a niche than by competing for everyone in a geographic area, and used investors as the working example.

On July 21, 2026, Shawn served as a Guest Trustee at the Nevada REALTORS® (NVR) Leadership Academy at Sundance Mountain Resort in Provo, Utah. He completed the program himself about eleven years earlier, which made the invitation to come back and teach it a meaningful one. His 60-minute session was titled Nobody’s Coming to Save You: Life on the Hot Seat.

On July 15, 2026, Shawn joined the Star Power SpeakEasy Club on Zoom for a live question-and-answer session titled Claude, You’ve Got Questions… Shawn Has Answers. The session took questions from agents about running a real estate business with Claude, the AI assistant he uses across operations, follow-up and reporting. It followed his earlier thinking in Scale It With a Remote Team and AI.

In July 2026, Shawn was a speaker at the Star Power Annual Conference in Indianapolis, with two sessions. A Saturday session in the Advanced Tier, moderated by Debbie Yost, with panelists Carrie Dukes and Rob Levy. A panel on building a real estate team with global remote talent. From February 3 to 5, 2026, Shawn was a speaker at Inman Connect New York at the New York Hilton Midtown. His session was Scaling Without Borders: How to Build and Lead World-Class Remote Real Estate Teams, held in the Trianon Ballroom. In July 2025, Shawn spoke at the Star Power Annual Conference in Salt Lake City, joining the Travel Hacks panel on points, perks and loyalty strategy for agents. It is the same panel format that returned in 2026, as covered in Star Power in Indianapolis. Points and perks are one piece of the travel-friendly business Shawn describes in his talks: running a large rental portfolio while spending three to four months a year on the road.

On June 6, 2025, Shawn returned to Junior Achievement of Nevada as a career speaker in the organization’s summer program in Las Vegas. His topic was entrepreneurship and what it takes to run a small business. Shawn has a long history with Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada and was named its Volunteer of the Year in 2016.

Shawn, a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) designee, presented two sessions at the CRS Sell-A-Bration across 2022 and 2024. A practical session on qualifying sellers, pricing strategy, and weighing buyer and agent risk when a short sale is on the table. A session on moving from lead to closing quickly.

In July 2023, Shawn was a panelist at the Star Power Annual Conference in Denver for the breakout Working With Investors in Any Market. The moderator was KC Butler, and the other panelists were Mary Gilbert, Char MacCallum and Donald Payne Jr. The topic has shaped much of his thinking since. See The Investor Playbook.

On October 26, 2021, Shawn spoke on the Main Stage at Inman Connect Las Vegas in the Pinyon 4–5 room. His session was Marketing Trends Impacting the Modern Brokerage. Shawn has returned to the Inman stage since, in New York in 2026 on building remote teams. The marketing approach he teaches now centers on choosing a niche instead of a ZIP code, which is the subject of his NAREB convention session and of the investor playbook.

On August 4, 2020, Shawn led a regional breakout session at Inman Connect Now, a full-day virtual event in Inman’s digital event series. Events like this were an early look at a way of working Shawn still relies on: serving clients and leading a team without needing to be in the same room.
